Make Your Home a Lung-a-licious Place
On average we spend about
65 percent of our time in our homes. Pollution from
the outside surroundings, as well as air pollution
generated indoors can become trapped in our homes,
triggering asthma episodes
and generally creating an unsafe environment for our
lungs.
The major indoor pollutants are either biological in nature such as:
- Animal feathers and hair
- Dust mite and cockroach parts
- Molds, pollen, bacteria or viruses
Or they are toxic gases such as Nitrogen Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Radon, Formaldehyde, Asbestos and secondhand smoke.
You can improve the air quality in your home by conducting an inspection. Tour your household. Following your eyes and your nose can lead you to find many of the potential hazards shown below.
